ABOUT THE LIBRARY The college has a rich library (Naren Sarma Library) with more than 30,000 books including reference collection and some rare publication. It subscribes to 14 news papers, vernacular and English and 35 journals,some national and international on different subjects. A separate Post Graduate Library is maintained, which is located in the same building with more than 700 books. The library is housed in a composite building having modern amenities and spacious reading rooms. In addition to that almost every teaching department has its own library which is linked with main library and lends books generally to major students. The Library has its separate referance section comprising 3000 books including rare collections. It also has a rich bound periodical section that provides material of importance. |
Automation of the library has been complited under UGC INFONET programme. Moreover, the Librarian offer orientation programme for students in the early part of the session for improving library awareness as well as enhance the reading habit of the students.
The library offers PHOTOCOPYING and LAMINATION FACILITIES which can be availed by the students at a very nominal cost. The library also has provision to issue text books on loan to deserving students from its BOOK-BANK.A small MUSEUM is attached to the library to preserve ancient manuscripts, relics and other articles of interest, which gives and idea of the cultural heritage of the people around the area. A meteorite (Dergaon Meteorite-2001), an object of astronomical and geological interest and procured from Rangamati region, is one of the rare collections of the museum. Only the bonafide students of the college can avail the library facility through library cards issued to them at the time of admission. The boarders of the DKD College Boys Hostel have started a small library with more than 300 books in the hostel. |
